For many years I had been, by my own admission a bit of a traditionalist as a painter, trying to recreate or convey a scene to the viewer as they would see it themselves. So when I first put colour to canvas to paint abstract I did almost feel a slight nervous energy. Studying and admiring other painters work of abstract I wondered if I could create art and do myself as an artist justice - be true to myself.
Opening up to express myself in this form has been an enlightening experience, and has taught me a lot about myself, both as an artist and as a person, and that what dwells in the farthest reaches of our hearts and minds, occasionally we must all dip into.
